Attaboy Buddy

Hi, my name is Attaboy Buddy. I was given this name because when I was found chained to a tree and starving, it quickly became apparent that no one had ever taken the time to provide me with medical care, train me, play with me or simply be kind enough to tell me, Atta Boy!

After being rescued from this neglect, I was treated for flea infestation, intestinal parasites, and was neutered. I was also diagnosed with heartworms. I then had to wait for a foster home and went to boarding until my foster mommy and daddy came to pick me up. Boy, was I excited! I gave them kisses during the entire 2-hour drive home!

Once I got settled, it seemed all was going well and I would soon be on my way to getting better. I started to gain weight, but then began coughing so badly I needed an ultrasound to check my heart and lungs. The heartworms were severe and I began medications to help with the coughing and the stress on my heart. I tolerated the first round of heartworm treatment very well, even wanting to play, but foster mommy and daddy said I needed to remain quiet. The second and third treatments were not quite as easy. I was sore from the injections and haven’t had as much energy but my foster mommy and daddy have given me lots of love and care while I go through treatment.

Unfortunately, since then it’s been one thing after another; a corneal ulcer, bacterial pustules on my skin, a growth on my face that needs to be removed for biopsy, and the most concerning is my recent excessive drinking and urinating which my doctor says could be due to a variety of things, particularly since I was neglected for so long, and more tests will be needed to determine the cause. I just can’t seem to catch a break!

I know that everyone is working really hard to get me healthy, which is why I never complain when I have to be poked and prodded. In fact, I’ve been a real trooper through all of this and everyone says I have a sweet soul. All these tests are getting pretty expensive though, so I’m asking for donations so FBR can continue to help me. All I really want for Christmas is to be able to play! Hopefully with your help, that may be able to happen. Thank you!
