 Compassionate Care Dogs

Please consider helping FBR pay medical costs for these dogs. These dogs are rescued sometimes knowing they have extensive and terminal medical issues. As a Compassionate Care dog, Florida Boxer Rescue is responsible for all Veterinary Care to keep these dogs healthy and happy and maintain the best quality of life possible. They will also stay in foster care for the remainder of their life. Please scroll down to see our current compassionate care dogs, and ones that have passed over the rainbow bridge.

Angel

Age: 8.5 yrs

Angel has joined our compassionate care group as he back legs have become increasingly worse from arthritis.  Her foster Mom loves her and will be caring for her throughout her days.  Her name says it all.. Angel. Angel was found roaming the streets in the cold. She was skinny and needed to be treated for heartworms, but boy is was she perfect. Angel is friendly and loving and deserving of the warm, safe, home she is in for the rest of her days. She sat in boarding for the longest while with those soulful brown eyes begging for a Foster Home...but then she found the perfect home where she will stay forever.

 Sugar

Sugar - Sugar joined FBR days before her 11th birthday.  She was covered in tumors but surgery did not seem feasible... So we watched them.  At first they seemed to stay the same size, but lately they have begun growing.  We are watching them and keeping track of her and making sure she is comfortable.  She also has bad arthritis in her back and is on medication daily to keep her comfortable.  This girl has done so much for Florida Boxer Rescue including winning us $1,000 in a photo contest which she decided to use towards Kirra's Surgery.  Please help us out by donating towards her care, which includes her pain medication, and vet visits to ensure she is not in pain.

Gilmore

(Click photos to enlarge)

10 years old

Gilmore was found as a stray and the owners did not want him back.  He is animal friendly and kissing seems to be his favorite hobby. The pound told us he was 6, but once brought to a vet, he has been estimated to be close to 10. While the mass on his leg is a fatty tumor, unfortunately he has severe hip dysplasia and heartworms. He is a happy boy that was simply discarded. FBR hopes to keep him comfortable and happy until it is his time but needs help to do so.

Champ

 Age: 10

82lbs
UPDATE 7/21:

Champ is a compassionate Care dog. He has started with DM and needs a wheelchair.

Champ is just a happy go lucky boy who loves other dogs, people and gets along fine with cats. He does tricks and can say "I love you". Don't let his size fool you. Chance is just a big ol teddy bear who would love nothing more than watch a baseball game with you.

Kansas

Age: 10yo

Hi! My name is Kansas...on a rainy day, I came to my new foster home. My foster mom gives me so much love and all I do is wag my tail....and I even smile at her, she thinks that is soooo special! Right now I cannot go on any long walks because I have arthritis in my back and my left leg, but I am taking lots of things to make me feel better. That's what happens to us when we get older, at least that's what my foster mom says! At my house there is a elderly Persian cat and we get along just fine; I want to play with him but he just doesn't feel like it, I guess he's OK if you're into all that fluff!! I play with my toys and with my foster mom.

I still have good days and bad days with my arthritis, but that's ok because I still have lots of fun!! My foster mom takes me everywhere because I'm a well-behaved, calm girl. She and her girlfriends love playing cards and having lunch... and I'm always there for both. Even at my mom's yard sale, people stopped by just to come and pet me!!! I felt so very special. I am very happy here, my foster mom says she will be my "Forever Foster Mom" and that is just fine by me. The good guys at Florida Boxer Rescue tell me that they will see to it that I am cared for, for the rest of my life. And life is good.

 Zeus Man

14 Years old

Hi, Zeus Man here - boy did I land in a cushy place!! Dog beds everywhere, pot roast on top of my food last night. A senior couldn't ask for anything better in life. Here's the scoop on me, I am a 14 year old boxer who in human years is 98 years old. I may look a little old but I am a ladies man - hey baby (Daphne) why don't you come up and see me sometime. As I said I am 98 years old in human years but I still got it - a strutt in stride and a pretty young lady to keep me company. So, dont count me out as I still got it. Laid back, love children and other dogs. I will be spending the rest of my life with my foster home - which is great as I love them. Well, gotta run that pretty young girl is walking my way again - gonna see if see wants to hang out!!!!

 Previous Compassionate Care Dogs

that have Passed On:

Buster Brown

Buster Brown passed over the rainbow bridge on July 27th, 2012... He was loved greatly by his foster family and we thank them for being there for him.

8 years old

Buster Brown is having some neurological problems and has been going to a specialist to see what is going on.  He is having some issues with his back legs, so we are unsure of his time left with us in this world.  His foster home has shown him love for a while and they have done so well with him!

Gilbert Montoyo

 Gilbert Monotoyo

Age: 10 Years

Weight: 46 Pounds

Update: 12/21 - Gilbert Montoyo has passed over the rainbow bridge.  Rest in Peace sweet boy!
8/21/12
Our sweet Gilbert is in a loving foster home with 2 female dogs to play with.
However, his condition is deteriorating. Our vet has determined that Gilly is really about 10 years old. He has a lot of arthritis and has been getting weak. So he has to be helped to go out side. But is doing great for an old man of 70 years old.

Gilbert Montoyo will be spending the rest of his days being loved, and pampered in his foster home. He will be kept as comfortable as possible.
